French Fluorite

French dealer Rhiggi Umberto operates a small mine in central France for these specimens of fluorite.  I first saw these at the 2000 Sainte Marie aux-Mines show.  He finally got around to producing more of these for the 2002 Munich Show.  I was able to get 7 fine specimens.

Umberto indicated that specimens this size are quite rare owing to the nature of the deposit.  He had only three specimens out of 50
that were in this size class. Several of the crystals have trapezohedral corner modifcations.
