Chinese Minerals

China continues to be one of the few bright spots in the mineral world with new finds continuing to make their way to the market place.  There was the usual array of fluorite from Yao Guang Xian but I decided to focus on looking for the unusual items being found in China today.  This is an interesting group I think.

Garnet, Smoky Quartz & Fluorite - $225.00
Yunshao County
Fujian Provice
China
8.2 x 4.5 x 3 cm

This is a unique specimen.  I have not seen fluorite from this locality before this show.  This specimen has two octahedral crystals about 1.5 cm across.
There are also several smoky quartz crystals and dozens of gemmy spessartine crystals.  A couple of the quartz crystals have inclusions of garnet crystals.
The surface of the fluorite crystals have been lightly etched to produce a matted luster.  No damage. The back of the specimen was sawn flat.
