South American Minerals

I was surprised to see some interesting specimens from South America on this trip to Munich.  In particular these fish tail twinned calcite specimens and also the alexandrite specimens.  I ususally do not go after calcite but these twins, brought to the show by Francois Lietard  were really very good and they did not last long at all!

Large cabinet specimen with numerous calcite twins to 4.0+ cm across.   The matrix consists of chalcedony and small quartz crystals.  Excellent luster and no damage! The twin fluoresces light orangish pink under SW UV light.  This was one of the finest specimens of this new and limited find at the Munich Show!
