Tucson 2009 Report 5

S teve Perry, Marcus Origlieri, Pat Haynes and I had our last Open House four-man show on the 7th.  We got lucky with the weather - bright blue skies and temperatures in the mid 70s.  No place I would rather be in February than Tucson!  We were not quite prepared for the on rush of people who showed up.  The first person arrived shortly before 9:30 and by 10:30 we had close to 90 people in the apartment on on the patio.  We got crushed!  Below are some images of just a few of the people here yesterday...

Several Japanese dealers looking over Steve Perry's gemstones.

One of the nicest folks you'll ever meet is Danny Jones from North Carolina.

Joe Ruiz and Utah collector Brent Thorne (in the shadow- sorry Brent!)

Several people looking over Marcus Origlieri's specimens. Dan Evanich from the Bay Area Mineral (BAM)
Society is in the green and white shirt and Marcus has his cell phone pressed against his head.

Several dealers and collectors pouring over Pat Hayne's material.

Jay Medici and Joe Ruiz looking at Steve's and my benitoite material.
Jay's dad John is in the mirror reflection.

Steve Perry on the left tending to the paperwork...

The hardest working soul in Tucson - Tom Moore of the Mineralogical Record.

A rare photo op on my patio - four people with minerals named after them (Pat Hayne's was busy inside or we would have had five!
from left to right: Dick Thomssen (dickthomssenite), Renato Pagano (paganoite), Joe Ruiz (ruizite), and Joe Marty (martyite).

BAM members Dan Evanich and John Magnasco.

Marcus relaxes as the clock finally hits 4:30 PM - show's finally over!

Marcus had several large cabinet specimens of botryoidal cupric rich hemimorphite suffocated with vezselyite crystals.
These are the richest specimens of this sort I have ever seen.  California collector Chris Korpi saw them and bought them all including these two.

BAM members Dan Evanich and John Magnasco.

I will get back up to the Westward Look show later this weekend and get more info on what is up there for the next report.
