Here is an array of new Rhodochrosite specimens from the Sweet Home Mine.  Collector's Edge, who owns and operates the mine, has not encountered a new pocket in the last three years of operation.  This does not mean that the mine is finished but it is usually a reliable sign that things are winding down.

At the end of April I went to Denver and viewed the entire inventory looking for specimens with a good price to quality value.  Here is the group that I selected.  It is not likely that I will be presenting a large supply of these in the future as the supply of these gorgeous specimens continue to dwindle.

I have broken these out in to 3 pages:

Page 1 - Specimens priced from $1500 and up
Page 2 - Specimens priced from $500 to $1500
Page 3 - Specimens priced from $500 and under

I also have two pristine copies of the special 1998 Mineralogical Record issue devoted to this mine.  These are available for $30 + shipping.

SH000 - $4750.00
Rhodochrosite & Quartz
Good Luck Pocket
Main Stope Drift
ex- Gene Meieran Collection

12 x 9 x 5 cm
This specimen of crystalline quartz and various sulfides hosts a superb isolated crystal of ruby red rhodochrosite. The crystal is 3.5 cm across the diagonal and free of any damage.   There are also numerous large and flashy crystals of quartz with abundant small crystals of tetrahedrite. Specimens from the Good Luck Pocket are exceedingly difficult to come by.   Gene Meieran was one of the prinicpal investors with this mine when it was reopened by Collector's Edge in 1992.  He was able to cherry pick a number of fine specimens and this was one.  I obtained this specimen directly from Gene at the 2003 Tucson Show. Again no damage!
