The Munich Show Specimens

Hall A4


This is the Hall where almost all of the Moroccan and Chinese dealers were found. It was also the Hall where some of the personal displays were set up in the center. Below are images from some of the displays. The above miniatures on display were the creation of Anita and Martin Haubenreisser from Leipzig seen in the lower right photo. Heinz-Dieter Goetter introduced them to me and encouraged me to visit their display. Wow! They have constructed these small miniatures of people in their mineral rooms. Note the model in the lower left and compare it to the image below of Heinz-Dieter (left) and Dr. Bernhard Sick. It would appear that Heinz-Dieter's likeness has been rigorously captured! Anyway, I was very impressed at the level of detail in these miniatures. Heinz-Dieter Goetter (left) and Dr. Bernhard Sick put together a fine display of fluorite specimens with old labels from global locations including one that passed through my hands a while back of the fluorite from Honduras. Heinz-Dieter also manages the German Fluorite website located at www.fluorite.de. Recall the image in the above miniatures in the lower right to see Heinz-Dieter. I found this nice specimen of fluorite from France in one of the other cases. I have no idea who's display it was unfortunately. This display had was of Austrian minerals found in the Alps. The scheelite and fluorite are quite exceptional for the area. This is a before and after shot taken in Hall A4. It really is amazing how much coordinated work gets accomplished in such a short time. Also in Hall A4 was where there were special program presented. All sorts of topics from meteorites to how minerals are formed were covered. Click the picture for a short mpg.
