Hauyne

On my last day at the show I ventured into the jewelry section and found a German dealer who had a nice supply of these rarely seen specimens of hauyne.  Hauyne is a member of the sodalite group of minerals.  It is noted for its electric blue color.  It is named after Hauy who was one of the founders of modern mineralogy.  This is a VERY difficult species to find in crystal form.  All of these specimens from Eifel are amorphous grains but many are of gem grade hauyne.
