Barite from Romania

There was a lot of new Romanian material at the show - mostly galenas, sphalerites, quartz etc.   There were also some of these new barite specimens from Turt, Maramures, Romania that are quite delicate in nature.   I saw a lot of them but only these two were not severely damaged.

5.3 x 4 cm specimen of galena with iron stains hosting a "butter fly" form of barite crystals.  The barite measures 3.7 cm across its widest dimension.  There is one missing crystal that keeps this from being a much more expensive specimen.

5 x 4 cm specimen of "butter fly" form barite on galena.  This is the only specimen of this new barite find that I could find at the show that was not in any way damaged.  All of the crystals are in excellent condition and all are brilliantly lustrous.  The "butter fly" measures 4.2 cm across.
