The Herb & Monika
Obodda Collection
The following images are from the collection of Herb & Monika Obodda who had
53 cases filled with minerals, artifacts and other mineral related memorabilia. I would like to
thank the Oboddas for also providing a CD with all the images of
the cases. Most of the photos were shot by Herb as the case
was filled.
It
was quite a task to organize the items for 53 cases but
they did it and Dave Bunk was there to help as he
does each year with the case set ups. Some absolutely amazing things
were available for viewing at the show. Thanks Herb & Monika!!
You can't do this unless
you are organized.

Thjis faceted
titanite was in the case at the entry to the displays. Oh Mercy
!!
Note the large
polished rhomb of calcite over the $10 bill.
Upon closer inspection
another example of Obodda humor is found.
Can you see something odd
here?

A superb collection
of gem rough and cut
specimens.
A selection
of tourmaline crystals and faceted
tourmaline.
Herb is
probably best known for the incredible specimens he had brought out of Pakistan
and Afghanistan. He's been there countless times and has built a
reputation as the finest dealer of minerals from this region in the world.
The following are specimens from these two countries with varying photos of the
sights and experience Herb has had while on the hunt for minerals
there.
hmmm.....? Taking the phrase mineral
hunting literally.
