Benitoite August 21st
Benitoite - I came across two decent benitoite specimens at the show and well after I determined that they were not for my collection they ended up here. I did some work on both to improve aesthetics and am quite pleased with the reasults - especially with this rare triply terminated specimen seen on the left.

Specimens from Brazil - These are specimens obtained from Luis Menezes and Hawthorneden at the show. Included are two specimens of the new mineral ruifrancoite and some interesting and large specimens of microlite, euclase and ferrotapiolite. I will be posting specimens from my Brazilian trip in a week or two.

General East Coast Show Specimens - After three days of prowling the show floor I came up with this assortment of mineralogical wonders!

Wulfenite August 21st
Wulfenite from China - This is a new find first seen at the Sainte-Marie show. At that time only Rene Daulon had specimens. Now two more dealers have them - Kevin Downey and Guanghua Liu of AAA minerals. I bought Guanghua's entire lot of six specimens and added two from Kevin for this offering. Guanghua explained that this locality is still not well known. He is fairly certain that it is from Mianning in Sichuan Province. Kevin believes that they are coming from Nonan in Xingjiang Province. Guanghua is certain that he will have the exact locality by the time the Munich show rolls around however he stated emphatically that this is a rare find and not many specimens will ever be available from it. The color of the wulfenite is a rich deep reddish orange likey due to a high chrome content.

Ahrbarite & Conichalcite August 21st
Chilean Rarities - New York dealer Terry Szenics had his usual array of interesting minerals from Chile. Some new specimens of Ahrbarite - a rare magnesium copper arsenate. A few of these specimens also have some fine crystals of the rare mineral guanacoite.

New find of Pseudomalachite - New York dealer Terry Szenics had a new find of pseudomalachite from the Manto Cuba mine in Chile. These are quite showy!

Powellite ps Molybdenite August 21st
Szencisite & Powellite - Last year I asked Terry Szenics to scrounge up what he had left of the mineral named after him and he did. There were several very fine specimens of szcenicsite and several with good crystals of powellite and one with a stunning pseudomorph of powellite after molybdenite from the very first pocket of this material that Terry ever found. I managed to get him to sign a few of the labels also.
